Echo Mountain, CO

2011's Snowboarding Season officially found us at Echo Mountain, CO this past weekend. We debuted this season at a new resort for both of us. Echo Mountain is located just west of Evergreen and although small and specifically catering to freestyle terrain, Alex and I managed to have quite a bit of fun on the beginner's slope where she practiced her toe edge all day.

Hat Trick!

Alex Swims 50 Yards Today!

This kid is amazing! Granted she did stop and rest on the lane line a few times but with another little boy she managed to swim a modified freestyle/underwater/one arm stroke the length of Congress Park pool with only a few short stops on the lane line. I might be passing the Water Polo ball with her by end of next summer...

Yellowstone National Park, MT

Shifting gears a bit; I had a most amazing time in Yellowstone National Park and Chico Hot Springs this past weekend. Thank You Love for a wonderful weekend!

If you do find yourself at Yellowstone; do check out the Boiling River. A natural hot spring converges with the Gardener River and visitors to the park can soak where the two meet.

The Snow Board Lesson

This is a small tribute to Aunt Kathy for purchasing a board lesson for Alexandra for Valentine's Day. Group lesson begin at 10:30am at Loveland Ski Area with registration beginning at 8am and ending at 9am. We hopped in the car at 6:30am and landed at Loveland with plenty of time. Alex LOVED the lesson and boarded with a new friend, Asia. The lesson lasted from 10:30am - 3:30pm complete with Hot Chocolate, Lunch, and Snack as well as plenty of riding. Alex even worked on the dreaded toe edge and connecting turns...

I Ride Loveland, Alexandra!

Alex and I visited Loveland this past Saturday for our first trip up to ride. Perfect weather coupled with short lift lines made for a wonderful day on the mountain.

"I Love Snowboarding Daddy," says Alex after 2 runs on Turtle Creek and 2 runs in the Valley! For a first day of the season, this little girl did well! Despite catching an edge on the first run, she bounced back and didn't miss a beat.

The First Intrawest Turkey Fry
